So, here it is Merry Xmas

This is the time of year where we are reminded that God’s Kingdom came to earth some 2000 years ago in the form of Jesus Christ.  This child born in a manger to a virgin mother was God incarnate (God in human form). He went by the name of Jesus Christ.  Many believe it was a fairy story that a virgin cannot get pregnant.  Yet, with modern science it is feasible today; by means of artificial insemination that a virgin could conceive.  It is therefore hardly beyond the realms of possibility that God who created everything could in fact fix it so He could be born to a virgin mother.  The book of Psalms says that God knits us together in our mother’s womb:-

Psalm 139 verses 13-14;  For you (God) formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.  I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.

He even knows how many hairs are on our heads:-

Luke chapter 12 verse 7;  Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered.

God can do anything.  Man’s intellect cannot fathom how God the creator of everything even exists let alone how He works.  It requires faith to believe in Him:-

Hebrews chapter 11 verse 1;  Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

Many theories have been expounded as to who Jesus was, a good man, a prophet, an angel, a created being or even a teacher amongst some but the Bible says He was God.

Jesus was fully human yet, at the same time fully God.

In the book of Colossians chapter 1 verses 13-20 it says of Jesus:-

He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be pre-eminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.

Verse 13  Jesus delivered us from the darkness of this world into the Kingdom, His Kingdom. That is to say, all who believe Jesus is who He claims to be; put their faith in Him; repent of their sins and live their lives in obedience to Him will enter His Kingdom.  The Kingdom of heaven as opposed to the dark realms of hell.

Colossians chapter 1 also says in verse 15 that Jesus is the image of the invisible God.  The word image used here means more than just likeness it implies a prototype an exact likeness and perfect representative of the invisible God.  Jesus Himself said in John chapter 14 verse 9 if you have seen me you have seen the Father.  He is claiming that they are one and the same.

John chapter 14 verse 9; Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?

Colossians 1 verse 16 underlines His deity when it says that all things were created through Him and for Him.  It is saying that He was there before the beginning of time.  That He was there at the creation of all things; in other words He is God the creator.

To believe or not to believe is the question only you can answer.  Nobody can talk you into believing.  If they could it would be just as easy to talk you out of believing again.  The prayer of the KoA is that you would look into the Biblical claims of Jesus Christ.  Having done that ask Jesus to reveal Himself to you in a way you can understand.

May the peace and love of Jesus Christ be a blessing to you this Christmas.  Have a great time whatever you are doing. Much l&r from the KoA.
